Hop Beats Arthur at the Box Office

For the second weekend in a row, Hop, an animated film featuring talking Easter Bunnies, landed in the top spot at the box office, earning approximately $21.6 million and bumping its cumulative earnings to $68 million. Russell Brand voiced a Hop character, but the actor couldn't quite bring the same big audiences to Arthur, which is expected to take second or third place, earning only about $12.6 million during its debut weekend. Hanna, with Saoirse Ronan, is expected to earn a solid $12.3 in its first weekend, followed by Soul Surfer, with Helen Hunt, which made $11.1 million in its debut weekend. Insidious earned $9.7 million, bumping its cumulative earnings to $27 million.
