Patti LuPone, Christina Hendricks, Stephen Colbert, Neil Patrick Harris, Martha Plimpton, and Jon Cryer — together at last! No, really, the far-flung stars of the New York Philharmonic's staging of Company haven't been able to rehearse together, on account of all being so famous and busy. Director Lonny Price accommodated everyone by letting them learn their roles individually, so Patti LuPone hired a "piano-playing, musical theater-loving pre-med student at the University of Charleston" to help her learn her part while wintering in South Carolina; Neil Patrick Harris learned the material from MP3s and over Skype; and Jon Cryer memorized his choreography by watching it on his iPhone. Technology to the rescue! [NYT]
