Most of the chatter about Our Idiot Brother so far has centered around the movie’s buzz, and successful pickup, at Sundance, and the big bushy beard Paul Rudd — who plays a preternaturally laid-back organic farmer with four uptight sisters (Emily Mortimer, Elizabeth Banks, Rashida Jones, and Zooey Deschanel) — reluctantly had to grow for the role. And, with the trailer for the flick now out, that’s still basically where we’re at on the information front: commendably, the footage shown here sets up the scenario — Rudd living with his mom and pissing off his sisters after being busted for selling weed to a uniformed police officer — without then running through the entire (presumed) redemption/newfound-acceptance arc. The cast is great, Rudd’s charming as always, and at one point a small child is lightly physically injured in a comical fashion. Count us in!
