Bon Jovi’s latest cash-guzzling tour kicks off on Saturday, but longtime guitarist Richie Sambora won’t be present for it — he’s entered rehab for a drinking problem. In a statement, the band says, “Our support for Richie is absolute. He is, and will remain, a member of Bon Jovi. Although he will be absent from upcoming shows for the time being, we very much look forward to his healthy return. In the meantime, we will keep our commitment to our fans and continue our tour.” Now, Vulture would in no way like to suggest that alcoholism is not a condition to be taken seriously, but there is a positive in all this: Namely, the fact that some lapsed fans are probably thinking, Well, gotta respect the fact that these old bastards still party pretty hard.
