Attention, Donald Trump: Superman Is Renouncing America

If it bothers you that one of America’s most iconic superheroes, Superman, will be portrayed by the British actor Henry Cavill in Zack Snyder’s upcoming movie, you may want to stop reading now. Comics Alliance reports that in his current comic book run, Supes is about to get even more controversial: He’s renouncing his U.S. citizenship. The story line (penned by David S. Goyer, who has story credit on Christopher Nolan’s Batman films) sees Superman coming to that conclusion after his support of nonviolent protesters in Iran runs afoul of security advisers in America’s administration, who argue that as long as he is an American citizen, Superman represents the country’s foreign policy. As you might expect, conservatives are up in arms about the plot, but at least they’ll always have the wiretap-loving Dark Knight in their corner. [Comics Alliance]
