Tom Cruise to Play Cheating Politician

Is Aaron Sorkin still planning to make his directorial debut with The Politician, a big-screen adaptation of Andrew Young's novel about the John Edwards–Rielle Edwards affair? If so, we've always thought that Tom Cruise would make a great Edwards, and Cruise must have agreed in theory: He's just attached himself to a new pitch that would cast him as an Edwards-like politico whose first mistake is a big infidelity. Dan Fogelman (Crazy, Stupid Love) will write the film for Warner Bros. after the studio picked up his pitch for over $1.5 million. Be careful, Tom: Last time you cheated on your screen wife, it ended with you clubbing Wilford Brimley to death with a briefcase. [Wrap]
