Very good mixtape rapper Freddie Gibbs — best represented by his popular single, "National Anthem (Fuck the World)" — has landed a major-label deal, via Young Jeezy's Island Def Jam imprint, CTE. Jeezy himself came out at a Gibbs show in Chicago to announce the signing, with a hella dramatic chaining ceremony and everything. (Jeezy weed carriers Slick Pulla and Blood Raw are all like, "Oh, crap," right now.) Anyway, congratulations, Freddie — you have just about entered the "when the hell is that dude putting out his official debut album" phase of your career. Say hi to J. Cole for us at the club meetings. [Pitchfork]
