Bridesmaids has just opened, but female comedies are already taking over the world. Melissa McCarthy and Bridesmaids' co-screenwriter Annie Mumolo (perhaps better known as the woman who freaks out on the plane in Bridesmaids) have sold a pitch for a comedy in which McCarthy stars as the mastermind of a plan to hijack the Stanley Cup in order to cheer up her ill husband. The original idea came from McCarthy's real-life husband, Ben Falcone, better known as the guy McCarthy sexually harasses on the plane in Bridesmaids. That's a lot of references to the plane scene in Bridesmaids for this early in the morning! Anyway, this sounds good. [Deadline]
