Jane Lynch is Fox’s first pick to host this year’s Emmys, which seems like a reasonable enough choice. Networks like to keep it in the family: Last year, NBC tapped Jimmy Fallon, and the year before that, CBS picked Neil Patrick Harris. Let us not speak of the 2008 reality host debacle. The most important attribute for an Emmy host — nay, any host — is commitment: If you’re gonna do a silly musical number, really do it!
