Lars Von Trier Apologizes for Sympathizing With Hitler at Cannes

Director Lars von Trier might have said some slightly outrageous things at his Melancholia press conference today in Cannes ... you know, things like, "I am a Nazi," "I understand Hitler," and "Maybe I could do the Final Solution." Needless to say, the festival was not pleased and demanded an explanation from von Trier, who admitted he was "egged on by a provocation," adding, "If I have hurt someone this morning by the words I said at the press conference, I sincerely apologise. I am not antisemitic or racially prejudiced in any way, nor am I a Nazi." Meanwhile, his star Kirsten Dunst has not yet apologized for giving von Trier some pretty amazing side-eye, nor should she.
