Ricky Gervais appeared to literally phone in his cameo during last night's season finale of The Office, and today, on his blog, he threw a few undermining jabs at the star-packed episode. "Watching The Office finale may remind some of the Chris Martin episode of Extras," he wrote. "'It's only Warren Buffett ... What are you doing in a paper merchant's in Scranton? It's mental.' If you're going to jump a shark, jump a big one. Still we've a had a good innings. Ha ha." After stating that the original British version was still his preferred version — "I didn't do the US remake for the art. I did my version for the art." — Gervais reiterated that under no circumstances would he actually consider replacing Steve Carell on the American show next year. "I would never ever in a million years take a permanent role in the show as an actor," he said. "It really would be fucking mental. You don't start a company to work on reception." (Though he's still open to more The Office finale cameos. He joked: "Can't wait to start work on the Chinese version. Bill Gates is in that one." [RickyGervais.com]
