Ryan Gosling to Direct Idolmaker

Ryan Gosling is ready to sit in the director's chair, and he's chosen to remake the project that served as Taylor Hackford's directorial debut, too. Deadline reports that Gosling has signed on to direct and star in The Idolmaker, a remake of the 1980 movie that was loosely based on the life of Bob Marcucci, who managed the careers of Frankie Avalon and Fabian. That's fine, Ryan, but don't be surprised when a confused Steven Tyler wanders onto set and starts spouting nonsense. [Deadline]
