Ryan Seacrest Is Developing an American Idol Rival

NBC's head of alternative programming, Paul Telegdy, says Ryan Seacrest and the network are working on "another music concept, which is a totally different kind of competition show. It is self-contained episodes. It is a bit more fun. It's not contestant competitive. It's artist competitive." No clue what that means? You'll have to wait a while to find out: Under his current deal, Seacrest can't appear on another broadcast network until 2012, and Telegedy says, "It can take anywhere from 12 months to two years to develop anything these days." Still: Treachery! [NYP]
