Ben Affleck’s Argo Will Star Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck will star in Argo, a political thriller about the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis, according to Variety. He'll play a CIA agent who concocts a story about a Hollywood production in an attempt to extract six Americans from Tehran; Alan Arkin and John Goodman are in final negotiations to co-star. Incidentally, Ben Affleck cast the film, which he will also direct. Perhaps he cast himself because his approach to the movie sounds fun: He had previously decided to have the entire cast actually live together in a single “safe house” for half a month prior to production, "to re-create the claustrophobic and tense conditions of the six American diplomats inside the U.S. embassy during the Islamic revolution." Affleck didn't want to miss out on that, uh, Method acting opportunity. [Variety]
