Kevin Smith Will Get Some Help on Red State Distribution After All

In a highly contentious move, Kevin Smith sold his latest movie, Red State, to himself and has been screening it around the country with one-off showings. He's getting some help now, though: While Smith is maintaining theatrical rights, Lionsgate has copped rights for "packaged media, video on demand, subscription video on demand, electronic sell-through and TV in the US." By the way, Deadline says Smith has made a $1 million off the fifteen showings he's done so far. He needs to crack $4 million to break even. Go for the gold, Kevin! [Deadline]
