NBC Schedules Summer Burn-Off For Friends With Benefits

The good news: Friends With Benefits, about attractive young people navigating the land mines of love and sex in the big city, is going to get a big promotional push this summer. The bad news: We are talking about the Justin Timberlake–Mila Kunis comedy out in theaters July 22, not the long-shelved sitcom from (500) Days of Summer writers Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber that NBC has finally, finally decided to air starting June 25. NBC’s Friends is the last of the network’s three virtually abandoned series (which included the canceled The Paul Reiser Show and current summer burn-off Love Bites) to make it onto the schedule, and though NBC’s summer lineup isn’t exactly crowded with new content, the network will quickly exhaust episodes of the Ryan Hansen–toplined ensemble comedy by programming it back-to-back on Saturdays.
