Ben Stiller Circles Walter Mitty Director’s Chair

Ben Stiller is reportedly in talks to direct The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, the long-gestating 20th Century Fox flick that Stiller’s already set to star in. Mitty is a retelling of the 1947 comedy starring Danny Kaye, based on a short story by James Thurber about a blundering, day-dreaming book editor who imagines more exciting lives for himself. Stiller’s not the first big name to circle the movie, however. At one point or another, Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg, and Gore Verbinski were all rumored directors, and Jim Carrey and Mike Myers were both rumored stars. This one just seems like it’ll stick, though. [Variety]
