Fox Grabs Film Rights for ESPN Oral History

20th Century Fox is acquiring the film rights for the ESPN origin story Those Guys Have All the Fun. The oral history, by James Miller and Tom Shales, traces the Worldwide Leader from its humble beginnings as a scrappy upstart no one wanted to fund to the global enterprise it is today, with a focus on the generally tense and occasionally vitriolic personal relationships that shaped the behind-the-scenes, and often boozy, culture at the network. It's not clear if the film will focus on one particular era or specific personalities or what, but the Keith Olbermann portion of the book is particularly juicy. He came up with the motto "This is SportsCenter" just to be a jerk! [Deadline]
