Keri Russell to Topline Another Jane Austen Project

When the Bridget Jones books were adapted for the screen, one little detail had to be cut: the title character’s obsession with Colin Firth in the 1995 BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, which would have been a little too meta for a series that ended up co-starring Firth himself. Now, though, Jerusha Hess is here to take that torch and run with it, since Hess (producer and wife of Napoleon Dynamite director Jared Hess) is readying Austenland, with Twilight author Stephenie Meyer aboard to produce. Keri Russell will star as another Pride-loving woman who visits an English resort where she can don Victorian gowns and flirt with remote men like Elizabeth Bennett did, but when she falls for the Darcy of her dreams there, does he love her back or is he just good at reenactment? And what will they do when they’re then attacked by zombies? (Wait, wrong movie.) [THR]
