Russell Crowe is allegedly "keen" on playing Javert in Tom Hooper's upcoming Les Misérables. He'd be opposite Hugh Jackman's Valjean, which could make this the most ruggedly handsome movie musical ever. (Sorry, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.) Paul Bettany is still in the running for Javert, too, but the idea of Crowe miserably growling "I am the law, and the law is not mocked," or of him and Jackman snarling their ways through "Confrontation," is almost too perfect. Jackman says that Hooper's adaptation includes spoken dialogue, unlike the stage musical, but still! Promising! Now all that's left is casting every other role perfectly.
