Early next week, indie-rock hearthrob Sufjan Stevens will close out the massive tour for his latest critically adored album, The Age of Adz, with a pair of shows at Brooklyn's Prospect Park. Earlier this week, Stevens and his crew were in a Brooklyn rehearsal space, running through the dance routines — yes, dance routines! — elemental to the current live Sufjan experience. For those accustomed to seeing a demure Sufjan in unassuming baseball caps, the scene was a trip: Stevens, rocking a sweet Flashdance-esque headband, worked alongside his choreographer in tweaking and perfecting the routine, suggesting and acting out the appropriate hip swivel and/or butt shake for the situation. Is that the kind of thing you might be interested in checking out? Good news, then: Sufjan let Vulture hang out with him and the dance team during practice, and we now have some video footage for your viewing pleasure. For those interested in seeing Sufjan shaking it in real life, tickets for the August 2 show are sold out, but August 3 is still there for the taking.
