For a pair of upcoming shows in the New York area, Weezer and the Flaming Lips will boldly go where (off the top of our heads, at least) no bands have gone before: a side-by-side stage setup, where each band will take turns performing a song. Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne: "The Flaming Lips and Weezer are playing a show together ... where they are actually playing together." Weezer's Rivers Cuomo: "I asked Wayne if he has an extra bubble I could ride in." It's not quite as innovative as Yo La Tengo's Choose Your Own Adventure Tour, but it has a slightly better chance of catching on. [Brooklyn Vegan]
