Alan Ball Is Developing a Show for Cinemax

Perhaps impressed by Alan Ball's ability to blend serialized storytelling with soft-core humping on True Blood, premium cable flesh-barer Cinemax has picked up his new show, reports the L.A. Times. How much eccentric onscreen sex can we expect from this promising partnership? Perhaps not much: The show, entitled Banshee, is set in Pennsylvania Amish country (though we've always got Rumspringa to look forward to). It'll follow an ex-con who assumes a murdered mayor's identity and takes over the town, and the synopsis notes that the lead character is "also an expert in martial arts," so keep your fingers crossed for some gloriously choreographed fight scenes with bearded men in broad-brimmed hats.
