Ashton Kutcher Is Developing a DMV Reality Show

Ashton Kutcher.

When we made our recent list of twenty workplaces crying out for a reality show, we did not think to list the DMV, for obvious reasons. (Because it is hateful, primarily.) However, this is yet another thing that separates us from Ashton Kutcher: While we see the DMV as a nightmarish necessity, Kutcher sees it as fertile ground for a new show he’s sold to truTV, entitled California DMV: Field Offices. Calling it “a fast-paced, fun series,” truTV’s press release says (Wait, what? Time out. Time out. Break time, guys. We just parroted their description of the DMV as a place that is both “fast-paced” and “fun,” and we are dealing with our resultant nosebleeds, which are wholly deserved. Kleenex, please. All right, let’s resume this sentence) the show will follow “hard-working personnel who deal with everything from issuing licenses and registering vehicles to maintaining accident records and investigating complaints.” Glamorous!
