Lea Michele's name has been batted around for the 2012 revival of Funny Girl for quite a while now, but it looks like producers have settled on another TV star for the lead role. E! is reporting that Six Feet Under's Lauren Ambrose is negotiating to play Fanny Brice in the musical, and she already had something of an "in" with the production: Funny Girl helmer Bartlett Sher directed Ambrose when she made her Broadway debut in 2006's Awake and Sing! And yes, the actress can belt out a tune: You can check her out singing "My Man" from the Funny Girl soundtrack in the above YouTube clip, where she performs it with her band Lauren Ambrose and the Leisure Class. Still, maybe Michele could pull a Darren Criss and replace Ambrose in the show at some point? (Assuming Glee actually follows through on its occasional threat to let Michele go, of course.) [E!]
