Gwyneth Paltrow’s Face Will Be Used to Scare People

Paltrow’s flu face.

But in a respectable, actorly, way: Marketing execs for Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming Contagion hope to play up the bio-thriller’s creepier aspects with billboards that “feature, among other things, a gasping, bug-eyed Ms. Paltrow beneath a legend that warns potential moviegoers to steer clear of one another. ‘Don’t talk to anyone,’ the posters say. ‘Don’t touch anyone.’” First: points to Gwyneth for going along with all this, especially given the roster of A-list actors (Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, and Marion Cotillard, among others) who presumably will not have to see their bloated faces stretched across Times Square with menacing taglines. Second: Is Paltrow’s Contagion seizure face actually that terrifying when you recall the Shallow Hal fat-suit, the Glee snarl, or those ringlets from Emma? Vulture thinks not. [NYT]
