Will Julia Roberts Play Ellen Barkin's Role in The Normal Heart?


Back when Barbra Streisand was trying to adapt Larry Kramer's play The Normal Heart into a movie, she offered the lead female role to Julia Roberts, who turned it down. Perhaps the Larry Crowne star has since come around: Buried at the bottom of Ryan Murphy's lengthy new interview with Deadline, the Glee showrunner says he'll be directing Heart soon with Mark Ruffalo in the lead, and mentions that Roberts is a "maybe" to play the wheelchair-bound Dr. Emma Brookner, who becomes an outspoken advocate in the early days of the AIDS epidemic.
