The Hour Gets Picked Up for a Second Season

The excellent BBC period drama The Hour, which mixes up Mad Men trappings, a Broadcast News–style love triangle, and crossword puzzles of death, is getting a second season. The first six-episode series, which co-stars Romola Garai, McNulty, and Ben Whishaw, is currently airing in America, but the BBC's press office just tweeted about a season-two pickup. No word yet on whether all three cast members will return, or if the show will toss out the totally unnecessary espionage plots for the next go-round (toss it out!), but it's still good news, as we will again be in need of a well-executed British mini-series to fill the Downton Abbey–size hole in our hearts.
