The King’s Speech Is Heading to Broadway

Colin Firth.

You might have thought you were done with The King’s Speech for a while after its Best Picture Oscar win, but nope: Once you cure a monarch of his stammering, he’ll never shut up. Showbiz 411 brings word that a theatrical adaptation of Speech is Broadway-bound and slated for a fall 2012 bow, though it’ll get out-of-town tryouts in the U.K. this spring. Ironically, Speech helmer Tom Hooper is moving in the opposite direction, since he’s hard at work bringing musical phenomenon Les Misérables from the stage to the screen; that adaptation is intended to start shooting later this year.
