The CW is developing a show called Extreme Musical Chairs. Musical chairs! They’re making a show based on musical chairs. Musical chairs. This “extreme” version will “transform the popular children’s game into a physically demanding competition with multiple rounds of elimination set in an indoor obstacle course,” according to Variety, which means it’s not musical chairs in the clinical sense of the term? That’s a relief — no one wants a real musical chairs show — but it’s also a puzzle, because why would you call your show Extreme Musical Chairs when you could clearly just call it American Gladiators Freeze Dance?
