Admittedly, if we had occasion to directly address George Clooney, we would probably say something weird and awkward, so know that in relaying this anecdote we're more commiserating with Darren Aronofsky than harshing on him. But Darren Aronofsky said something weird and awkward to George Clooney! At the opening ceremony of the Venice Film Festival, Aronofsky — whose Black Swan was the smash of last year's Venice, and who is this year's jury president — had some welcoming words for Clooney, whose Ides of March just opened the festival this year. This is what he said: "Let's just say you should be happy this building has been refurbished. Last year, I sat there between Natalie Portman and the president of Italy, and I think I peed in my pants. But they say the place has been redone, so I guess any humidity you feel there is your own." Pee-pee jokes: good for toddlers, not for the Clooney. [THR via Movieline]
