Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio Working On an NBC Cop Drama

Ethan Hawke.

Ethan Hawke and Vincent D’Onofrio are collaborating on an NBC cop drama currently called Blue Tilt, which they would star in and executive produce. The show, written by Chris Brancato (Boomtown, Law & Order: SVU and Criminal Intent), centers on two detectives, one married and one divorced, as they deal with the emotional strain of investigating murders. D’Onofrio was borderline absurd as a police officer L&O:CI — is it overacting if it’s just shouting and woozily gesticulating with one’s right arm? — and Hawke was nominated for an Oscar for one of his portrayals of a cop, so this is well-worn territory for everyone. Including audiences, who have seen a seemingly endless stream of police dramas starring higher-profile middle-aged white guys played damaged — but authentic! and invested! — detectives. Will there be a weary boss and a beautiful new rookie? Please, oh please. [Deadine]
