Kate Winslet in that movie about reading.

Amazon’s Audible.com, which gave fun parents the gift of Samuel L. Jackson reading Go the F-ck to Sleep earlier this summer, has lined up a long list of actors to participate in its new audiobook series focused on classic works of literature. Celebrities interested in helping the public become more literate include Nicole Kidman, who will record Virginia Woolf’s To the Lighthouse, Colin Firth (Graham Greene’s The End of the Affair), Susan Sarandon (Carson McCullers’s The Member of the Wedding), and Dustin Hoffman (Jerzy Kosinski’s Being There ). Kate Winslet, who already wrapped her reading of Emile Zola’s Therese Raquin, seems to have enjoyed participating in the project. “You use a different part of your brain and it keeps your creative juices flowing,” she said. “It is challenging, and it’s a heck of a lot of fun as well.” Quick, someone turn that into an after-school PSA.
