Mick Jagger Albums Continue Inexorable Decline in Quality

Four years ago, when the Rolling Stones front man released the greatest-hits collection The Very Best of Mick Jagger, Vulture noted that Mick’s solo albums were getting worse, at least by the standards of devoted Jagger chroniclers Rolling Stone. That album, reviewed by senior editor David Fricke, received only 4.5 stars, while 2001’s Goddess in the Doorway was awarded a perfect 5 stars by Jann Wenner. The downward trend continues in this week’s issue, in which Will Hermes gives 4 stars (no decimal!) to Jagger’s latest effort, the supergroup experiment SuperHeavy. Rolling Stone does not like it when Mick Jagger raps, apparently. [RS]
