Mortal Kombat Is Getting a Big-Screen Reboot

Would Glee: The 3D Concert Movie have been a little snappier if Kurt pulled Rachel's spine out at the end of a complicated musical number, then held it aloft like a prize as flashing sixteen-bit letters spelled out "KURT WINS"? That's a question for director Kevin Tancharoen, who's poised to hop from helming the Glee spinoff to directing the big-screen reboot of Mortal Kombat based on the classic video game fighting franchise. If that seems like an unlikely transition, it shouldn't: Tancharoen attracted a lot of online attention for his live-action Mortal Kombat web series, which he made with the intention of convincing Warner Bros. brass that he had action-movie chops. Guess it worked! The reboot is currently being scripted, so there's plenty of time to involve Mortal Kombat fan Tommy Wiseau, if need be. [Deadline]
