The L Word’s Leisha Hailey Kicked Off Southwest Flight

Apparently, Southwest has very strict standards for its passengers — celebrities included. Last winter, director Kevin Smith was booted from one of the airline’s planes after he was deemed too fat to fly. More recently, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong was forced from his flight over his saggy pants. The carrier gave celebrities yet another reason not to fly commercial on Monday, when L Word actress Leisha Hailey tweeted that she and her girlfriend, fashion designer Nina Garduno, were escorted off a Southwest plane for making out. As she wrote, “I have been discriminated against by @SouthwestAir. Flt. attendant said that it was a ‘family’ airline and kissing was not ok.” In subsequent postings, Hailey demanded a refund and called the company out for “endorsing homophobic employees.” In a Twitter statement of their own, Southwest said the couple’s removal was the result of “several passenger complaints … based solely on behavior and not gender.” Unfortunately for the airline, everyone knows that three’s a trend. Therefore, we have no choice but to ask, “Why does Southwest hate celebrities so very much?” [THR]
