Kristen Wiig and Robert De Niro will star in a drama called Comedian, to be directed by Sean Penn. In the film, De Niro’s washed-up comedian character is forced to perform community service where “he meets a dazzling redhead (Wiig) who turns his life sideways.” Ooh la la! Should be pretty interesting to see Wiig in a serious role opposite De Niro. And the script was written by Art Linson with Roastmaster General Jeffrey Ross, who definitely knows a thing or two about life as a comedian. Shooting doesn’t start till this spring, which gives us plenty of time to rent The King of Comedy and prepare to make a lot of comparisons.
