New York Film Critics Bump Up Their Awards Voting

The New York Film Critics Circle will jump to the front of the awards season line by holding its vote on November 28 — two weeks earlier than usual, and ahead of the National Review Board and the L.A. Film Critics Association. This means, essentially, that the awards season is a few days longer, and that some critics on the West Coast are gonna be beefing with their New York counterparts for trying to hog the influence. (It’s kind of like how New Hampshire is so mad at Nevada right now for bumping up its Republican primary; Nevada, always playing fast and loose with the calendar.) Anyway, the Oscars are still set for February this year, so unless you were planning a huge NYCC announcement party, your schedule should remain relatively unchanged. [Deadline]
