We knew that newly hyper-accelerated Tree of Life director Terrence Malick was already working on his next movie (this, after finishing a still-untitled drama with Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams), but a bombshell press release today says there’s even more going on than you expected: He’s currently in pre-production on two movies, and they’re shooting back-to-back next year. The first is called Lawless and will star Ryan Gosling (confirming that rumor advanced by Nicolas Winding Refn) as well as Rooney Mara, Haley Bennett, Christian Bale, and Cate Blanchett, while the latter two actors will again star for Malick in his subsequent production, Knight of Cups. They’re going to have to build a bigger Cannes Film Festival!
