George Clooney, Sony Pictures to Do Smothers Brothers Film

Deadline has the exclusive on a new deal between Sony Pictures and George Clooney's Smokehouse production company: a feature film about late-sixties comedy duo the Smothers Brothers and their short-lived CBS comedy hour. With a writing staff that once included Steve Martin, Rob Reiner, and even Community curmudgeon Chevy Chase — a fact that, we think, demands a few good cameos — it's no wonder the show quickly made it on President Richard Nixon's blacklist, eventually getting the Smothers Brothers fired from CBS.
