Music Executive John Atterberry Dies After Hollywood Shooting

After being listed in critical condition on Saturday following a horrifying random shooting in Hollywood, music executive John Atterberry died Monday just before 5 p.m. The AP reports that Atterberry was the attack’s only seriously injured victim; he was shot in the face and upper body when 26-year-old gunman Tyler Brehm began opening fire on passing automobiles.

Brehm pulled a gun near the ArcLight Cinema in Los Angeles on Friday morning and fired almost twenty bullets, targeting moving vehicles. When he ran out of bullets he began to shout “Kill me … I want to be killed.” A pair of LAPD officers killed Brehm shortly after.

Atterberry had worked with Jessica Simpson and the Spice Girls, as well as playing vice-president at Death Row Records, a label associated with hip-hop stars like Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, and Dr. Dre. Atterberry was 40 years old.
