Lauren Ambrose’s revival of Funny Girl is on hold, so she’s filled the opening in her calendar with a reboot in a very different vein: Coma. Ridley and Tony Scott are producing a new TV mini-series for A&E based on Michael Crichton’s 1978 movie (itself based on Robin Cook’s 1977 book), with Ambrose and Rescue Me’s Steven Pasquale in the leads, the Hollywood Reporter reports. The supporting cast includes Richard Dreyfuss, Ellen Burstyn, James Woods, Geena Davis, and James Rebhorn, which seems pretty high-end considering Coma’s the one with the freaky organ-harvesting ring that requires bodies be suspended on wires, like so much gaudy seventies decor.
