Earlier this week, the National Board of Review gave Michael Fassbender its Spotlight Award for his roles in Jane EyreX-Men: First Class, A Dangerous Method, and Shame, the latter of which made us question: Has he been back to the Standard Hotel — where so many of the movie’s sex scenes were shot — recently? “No, I haven’t,” he told us. “I probably should go see how things are going over there.” Not nearly as well, we’d imagine. Moving on, he told us why he opted not to use a stunt double for his scenes with mixed martial arts fighter Gina Carano in Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming Haywire. “We talked about it … what Steven wanted was to sort of stay in there and not have any cuts away.” The result was a lot of bruising, but Fassbender, looking dapper and without any visible scars, assured us he had “a lot of fun” getting his ass kicked.
