What’s the next step for Paul Feig and Michel Hazanavicius, who got some of the biggest bumps from directing breakout movies in 2011? Bridesmaids helmer Feig briefly flirted with the next Bridget Jones sequel and is developing a new film with Melissa McCarthy and Jon Hamm, but he’s now attached himself to The Better Woman, reports Variety. It’s the story of a woman who befriends her ex’s new girlfriend, and it’s being written by Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, so you’re excited. As for newly minted DGA nominee Hazanavicius, he will follow up his heartwarming, rapey silent movie homage The Artist with a contemporary remake of the 1948 drama The Search. Like The Artist, it will star Hazanavicius’s wife Berenice Bejo as a woman who bonds with a young boy in war-torn Chechnya. The boy, presumably, will not be played by Artist wonder-dog Uggie.
