Ed Wood and Man on the Moon writing team Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski have been trying to tell the true art tale Big Eyes onscreen for years, and they just landed two attractive people for their leads: Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Reynolds. They’ll play Margaret and Walter Keane, a couple whose signature paintings of wide-eyed children became a hugely commercial pop art sensation in the fifties and sixties. The twist? Mr. Keane stood as the figurehead for the whole enterprise, going so far as to take credit for the focal point, his wife’s art. Alexander and Karaszewski will direct the film this spring, Tim Burton will produce, and Witherspoon will check another Ryan off her no doubt lengthy list of Ryans to make movies with.
