Ellen Barkin has signed on for Ryan Murphy's upcoming NBC comedy The New Normal, Deadline reports. The show is about a gay couple and woman who becomes their surrogate; The Book of Mormon's Andrew Rannells is already on board to play one of half of the couple, and Twitter laureate Barkin will play the surrogate's mother. Sounds about right! Barkin, Jane Lynch on Glee, Jessica Lange on American Horror Story — this means we can now add "middle-aged blonde woman in a scene-stealing [we're guessing] supporting role" to the List of Ryan Murphy Hallmarks.
