Woody Harrelson, who seemed just lovely at a recent outing with New York’s Jada Yuan, had a rough time making Rampart, a film for which he dropped almost 30 pounds to play a racist L.A. cop. Director Oren Moverman tells ComingSoon that Harrelson, though generally not a guy who stays in character, was growing paranoid and losing any sense of humor. “[Woody] was like, ‘I’m about to lose my family. I can’t trust anyone.’ People would tell him a joke and he’s like, ‘What do you mean? What do you mean? What are you saying?’ It took him, he says, two or three months in Hawaii to sort of unwind and get it out of his head.” That could explain why Harrelson’s recent Ask Me Anything event on Reddit, maligned though it was, produced this brief response about preparing for a role: “I will tell you, it can really take over your life for a while.”
