After the sudden real-life death of Kim Jong-il left the fictional 30 Rock character Avery Jessup-Donaghy (played by Elizabeth Banks) stranded in North Korea, the show’s producers promised they would try “to figure out how to get her out of there.” Avery’s fate is still not totally clear, but she will at least be back on the show — Banks is slated to appear on the show sometime during May sweeps. Will Avery actually be free? Will she break into the control room and send one last video conference before assuming power in a new regime? Will Banks actually be playing Avery’s evil twin Savory? Fake international relations have not been this tense since the Parks and Rec Model U.N. disaster of November 2011.
