Jeremy Piven is in talks to star in ITV's ten-part biographical miniseries Mr. Selfridge, Deadline reports. The show is based on the book Shopping, Seduction and Mr. Selfridge and follows the exploits Harry Gordon Selfridge, the department store magnate who helped build the Marshall Field empire in the U.S. and founded Selfridge's in the U.K in the early 1900s. He was also a total scamp and thought of shopping as a "sensual" experience, according to the book. Andrew Davies (Pride and Prejudice, Bridget Jones) is writing the adaptation, and between that, the period setting, and ITV, there's definitely a Downton Abbey vibe afoot. Except for the part where Jeremy Piven would star.
