Universal’s The Lorax may have been critically panned, but moviegoing audiences went to it like hungry Saint Patrick’s Day revelers to green eggs and ham. It earned an astounding $73 million this opening weekend, making it the biggest debut of the year so far, and more or less earning back its entire production budget. Project X, rightly advertised as the offspring of “Super Bad [having] sex with The Hangover,” did respectably, earning over $20 million. As for last Act of Valor, it is still doing well, earning over $14 million and double last weekend’s other opener, Tyler Perry’s Good Deeds. [Deadline]
